E vitamin is very important for various functions in our body. Our heart need E vitamin to make it healthy, and the fact is E vitamin can prevent us from having a heart disease. And if you have heart disease already, E vitamin can help you prevent it from get worsen.
E vitamin is considered important in protecting our cell membranes from free radicals that harmful to our body. So, without E vitamin, and also other vitamins of course, our cell membrane can be damaged, and that is dangerous since it can lead to serious problem in our health, include possibility of cancer. The main reason why E vitamin is so powerful in fighting free radicals is that E vitamin is fat soluble, which means it shall be absorbed into shell membranes. Therefore, E vitamin is also important to our system of immune.
The E vitamin intake for every person is different depends on body weight of the person. It is also connected to daily diet, especially fat intake. The more fat we ate in our daily diet, the move E vitamin will be needed by our body. Anyway, some foods that contain reasonable amounts of E vitamin are nuts, seeds, vegetable oils, and wheat germ. For above reason, most people will require taking E vitamin supplement in any form.
E vitamin deficiency will not take any effect immediately. The fact is, it took months for the effect of E vitamin deficiency to be detected. And only after having E vitamin deficiency for years, there will be some damage on our nerve and spinal cord, or on retina of our eyes. Well, those damages very rare though, most people obtaining enough E vitamin from their daily diet. But the important thing to remember regarding to E vitamin absorption is our diet shall contain little amount of fat.
For your information, there are few medical conditions which may lead to E vitamin deficiency and the person may require taking E vitamin supplements. One of that condition is Cystic Fibrosis, it cause a person unable of digesting any form of fats which leads mal absorption of E vitamin. Another condition is called Crohn’s disease which casing a lower rate of E vitamin absorption, so E vitamin supplements might be needed. Several form of liver diseases can lead to problem in absorbing E vitamin also, especially through our intestine. Also important to note that for people who extremely take a very low fat diet have to discuss with their physician about their options of fulfilling the body need by having E vitamin supplements.
